An original Scottish C.1900’s 1857 Pattern Field Officer’s Sword
This sword was carried by Scottish officers in Lowland regiments and comprises a very fine nickel-plated, pierced acanthus-leafed hilt with fishskin and copper twistwire to the grip. The hilt also retains its original white buck leather and blue velvet liner. The blade is unusually plain and it is possible that this was made during the First World War under economy conditions. Conversely, it could have been carried by a senior NCO. Sword comes complete with original nickel-plated scabbard.
Condition of the Sword
In good overall condition, particularly the blade. Some light pitting in places to the scabbard.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 33 inches (40 inches overall).
