Excellent and rare Spanish 18th Century Infantryman’s Hanger Sword
This is a seldom seen Spanish 18th Century infantryman’s hanger – could be for an artillery soldier as the hilt is engraved with a crowned R and the letter A (Artillery?). The crowned R is probably for King Carlos III (1759-1788). With heavy iron hilt and ribbed brass grip. Blade is plain and single-fullered. No scabbard.
Condition of the Sword
In excellent condition for its age with fine dark age patina.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 28 inches (34 inches overall)
