A fine and complete example of an English c.1780’s Infantry Officer’s Cushion-Pommel Sword.
This sword would have been carried by an English infantry officer towards the end of the 18th Century and is quite scarce in the sword collecting market as they are seldom found complete with their original scabbard. The sword comprises a distinctive brass slotted hilt with shell design to the front of the hilt guard. Grip is made from ribbed ivory and is in excellent condition – rare to find them without damage or repairs.
Cushioned sword pommel and original scabbard
The cushioned pommel is of typical period fashion. The blade is plain, single-fullered and with a pronounced curve. Comes complete with its original leather and brass mounted scabbard. In very good condition for its great age. Blade length is 27 inches (33 inches overall).
