Good example of a c.1900’s Nepalese Gurkha Knife and Scabbard. With white metal, engraved grip and well forged blade. Complete with stitched leather scabbard and pouch containing by-knife.

Incised tooled decoration to the Gurkha kukri scabbard

The thick leather scabbard has been decorated with incised decoration near the top of the scabbard. The kukri is a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved edge, used as both a tool and as a weapon in Nepal and neighbouring countries of South Asia. It is also used as a basic utility knife.  It is a key fighting weapon of the Nepalese Army, the Royal Gurkha Rifles and of all Gurkha regiments throughout the world.  The “kukri” and “kukkri” spellings are Western in origin and the original Nepalese spelling being khukuri.  For more information on the history of this famous fighting knife please go to here.  Blade length is 12 inches (16 inches overall).
