A great example of a C.1800’s Indian Shamshir Kukri. The style of the kukri is very distinctive and comprises a deeply engraved Indian Shamshir hilt and wide kukri blade that has a heavy, inset brass motif at the blade forte. The blade also has a heavily chiselled decorative border to the top of the blade and a circular motif to each side of the blade. The kukri has excellent balance in the hand and would actually have been quite an effective cutting and slashing weapon if wielded correctly. This kukri is in excellent condition and has a great age patina and polish. There is no damage or repairs to the kukri and both hilt and scabbard are solid with no movement to both. The length of the kukri blade is 15 inches (19.5 inches overall). This is a good an attractive addition to any serious collection of antique Indian edged weaponry.
