This is a very fine Chinese Solid Silver Hallmarked Trousse Set. Comprising a great hardwood grip mounted in silver. The trousse case is made from shagreen with silver mounts. Also comes complete with chop sticks and toothpick(?) – all made from natural animal tooth and silver mounted – once mount missing. The knife is exceptionally large with a long blade which makes me think that this was made for a man rather than a woman as the female versions are smaller. Most of the Chinese trousses’ that come onto the market are of naturally smaller proportions but this is a substantial piece and consequently quite rare. Some small losses to the case. The bottom silver mount is deeply impressed with a Chinese silver mark. A very high quality piece. Blade length is 7.5 inches (12 inches overall).
