British 1897 Pattern Indian Army NCO’s Sword

A good, clean example of a British Army NCO’s sword issued to an NCO serving in India during the 1900’s.  This particular sword was issued in 1909 and is dated to both the sword hilt and the scabbard throat.  It is also stamped with the initials A.L. – cannot currently identify the regiment but is likely to be an Indian regiment as the sword hilt has the ERI (India) royal cypher.  Sword was made by Mole and Son of Birmingham, who were prolific suppliers of military swords to the British Army during this period.  It is also stamped with the initials – ISD – this stands for India Stores Department.  Hilt is bound with fishskin and steel twistwire.  Comes complete with its original and matching scabbard.

Condition of the Sword

In very good condition overall with extremely clean blade.

Specifications of the Sword

Blade length is 32.5 inches (39 inches overall).
