A good British C.1790 Infantry Officer’s Sword
Here we have a British C.1790 Infantry Officer’s Sword of spadroon type. It has a ribbed ebony grip and steel stirrip hilt. The blade is typically plain and single-fullered. It appears to retain the original black painted finish to the hilt. This is a sword type that was common in the British Army during the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars and was superceded by the 1786/96 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword.
Condition of the Sword
In untouched condition – some commensurate age wear to hilt and blade.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 31.75 inches (37 inches overall).
