A fine British C.1800’s Military Bandsman’s Lionshead Sword. An unusual example of an early 19th Century British Army military bandsman’s sword. With cast brass hilt comprising a distinctive lionshead pommel and ribbed grip. The blade is plain apart from some very faint engraving that looks to be indicating manufacture by the Wilkinson company. This must be a very early piece from this company as this style of bandsman’s sword was prevalent during the late-Georgian and early Victorian period.
Sword stamped to top of the crossguard
The sword is stamped to the top of the crossguard. No scabbard. In good overall condition with age darkening to the blade. Blade length is 22.5 inches (28 inches overall).
