British C.1820 Georgian Military Bandsman’s Sword
A rarely encountered early 19th Century British military bandsman’s sword complete with its original brass and velvet mounted scabbard. This is the first example with this type of scabbard that I ever come across in many years of dealing. It is likely that most scabbards made with a velvet covering have long since perished so it is fortunate to find one still existing. The sword has a very well detailed brass lionshead pommel and ribbed grip. It also has prominent double hilt langets. The blade is plain, wide and single-fullered.
Condition of the Sword
In very good condition for its age – scabbard has some minor losses to the velvet and expected fading.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 27.5 inches (31.5 inches overall).
