Super rare c.1750 German Brandenburg-Ansbach NCO’s Spontoon
This is a very rare NCO’s military spontoon from a little known and now defunct German state of Brandenburg-Ansbach that only existed until 1806 when it was sold to Prussia by its last ruler, Charles Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The spontoon has a double-edged blade that swells at the tip and is re-inforced. It is engraved with an eagle to one side and on the reverse is an engraved royal cypher of “A” (Alexander) surrounded by a victory wreath. The spontoon has a heavy wooden haft.
