A fine example of a C.1750 Scottish Dirk Dagger Knife
This is an excellent and rare C.1750 Scottish Dirk Dagger Knife. It comprises a large triangular blade that is has a typically mid-18th Century profile, coupled with the unusual siting of the staghorn handle. For similar examples of these mid-18th Century Highland and European knives, please see Swords and Blades of the American Revolution by George C. Neumann, page 236 and also the images below from the book. The blade is very sharp and would have been a devastating close combat weapon.
Condition of the Dirk Dagger
In fine condition for its age with pleasing age wear to the blade – very similar to that shown in Neumann’s book.
Specifications of the Dirk Dagger
Blade length is 10.5 inches (16 inches overall).
