A fine example of a C.1900’s Antique Lapplander’s Hunting Dagger
This is a rarely encountered C.1900’s antique Lapplander’s knife with a distinctive curved scabbard. Both scabbard and knife hilt appear to be mounted in marine ivory (?) or perhaps bone. With incised decoration to the bottom of the hilt that is bound with leather, as is the scabbard. The blade is short and wide, with a central rib. These knives would have had a range of uses and used for hunting, skinning and general purposes. Please see my other antique Inuit Ulu skinning knife for sale.
Condition of the Knife
In good condition with wear and cleaning to the blade.
Specifications of the Knife
Blade length is 5 inches (8.5 inches overall).
