Excellent Chinese 19th Century Jian Sword
A very good example of a Chinese Officer’s Jian sword with typical hilt and scabbard styling. Hilt has a ribbed, wooden grip and decorated brass mounts. The blade is plain with a spear point. The scabbard is of polished wood with brass mounts. These swords were particularly popular during the mid-19th Century and I would say that this probably dates from this period.
Condition of the Jian Sword
In excellent overall condition with a very clean blade and scabbard in fine shape.
Specifications of the Jian Sword
Blade length is 16 inches (22 inches overall).
