An original French C.1800’s Infantryman’s Briquet Hanger Sword. Of typical form and with heavy ribbed brass grip and plain, slightly curved blade that is double-edged towards the end. Maker marked to the blade forte – looks to be a French sword maker and also has an impressed inspector’s mark. Complete with a leather and brass mounted scabbard.

This is the type of infantry sword that was carried by the French Army and many other European nations during the 19th Century. Good overall condition. Blade length is 24 inches (29.5 inches overall).
