A good example of a French C.1800’s Senior Officer’s Blue and Gilt Smallsword
This French officer’s smallsword is probably from the 2nd Empire and comprises a very attractive and elaborate rococo styled white metal hilt with French eagle to the front shellguard. The slab grip is made from mother-of-pearl. The blade is decorated with blue and gilt motifs, including foliage and stands of arms. Complete with part original leather scabbard worthy of restoration.
Condition of the Sword
In good overal condition – blade quite clean – with part scabard.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 30 inches (35 inches overall).
