A highly unusual and unique German 19th Century Gladius Sword
This sword is probably a unique piece and likely to have been made to order for an important customer. It is in the style of a Roman Gladius sword and comprises an extremely heavy brass hilt and a Damascus steel blade with inlaid gold floral decoration to both sides of the blade forte. The scabbard has brass mounts and is covered in a velvet/suede type material that would have originally been a strong red colour.
Condition of the Gladius Sword
In very good overall condition – scabbard covering a little faded.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 14.5 inches (22 inches overall).
