A rare 19th Century Japanese Fireman’s Tobikuchi Axe
A rarely encountered 19th Century Japanese Fireman’ Tobikuchi Axe with wooden shaft and brass banding. The blade and end to the shaft show traces of the original nickel plating. These were used to break down obstructions during a fire and also played part as a martial arts weapon.

With signs of wear to the blade and end of shaft.
