An original and scarce British 1788 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper’s Sword
The British 1788 Pattern Cavalry Trooper’s Sword is a pattern of sword that is rarely encountered and few have survived. This is a particularly good example with typical fishskin grip but what makes this one different is that the hilt is made from brass rather than the normally encountered steel. There are many variations of this pattern and this is one of them. Blade is curved with a single, broad fuller. No scabbard.
Condition of the Sword
In good overall condition, with some light service wear to the blade.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 35 inches (41 inches overall).
