A rare C.1780 American Infantry Officer’s Hanger Sword
This is a rare example of a C.1780 American Infantry Officer’s Hanger Sword and is typical of the simple infantry sword styles adopted by American officers during the late-18th Century. For similar examples, please refer to Swords and Blades of the American Revolution by George Neumann. Sword comprises an iron hilt with ivory mounts and a D-Guard knucklebow. Blade is single-fullered and slightly curved.
Condition of the Hanger Sword
In worn condition commensurate with its age – blade with wear and nicks.

Blade length is 25.5 inches (30 inches overall).
