An unusual Indian 19th Century Cavalry Trooper’s Sword. This sword would have been issued to native Indian cavalry soldiers in the service of the British Army in India. It is likely to have been manufactured in India and comprises a steel three-bar hilt with a chequered leather grip.
Large and heavy blade
The blade is of massive proportions and is of a heavy weight. It would have been pretty devastating in the field. Interestingly, the grip is quite small and obviously made for use by Indian troopers. Complete with typical Indian tulwar-style leather scabbard. In good condition with a very clean blade. Blade length is 31 inches (35.5 inches overall).
