Unusual Turkish 19th Century Cavalry Trooper’s Sword
This is an unusual piece as the style of the sword is reminiscent of the Italian Model 1833 Cavalry Sword but the blade is stamped with Arabic/Turkish cartouche markings which probably indicate issue to Middle Eastern i.e. Turkish Ottoman troops. This could be an Italian or German export piece to Turkish troops. Hilt comprises a moulded wooden grip, iron stirrup hilt with pronounced ball quillon finial. Blade is slightly curved with deeply stamped marks. Complete with original scabbard.
Condition of the Sword
With wear to the hilt and age crack to the grip – blade is very clean.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 28.5 inches (34 inches overall).
