A very rare and seldom seen Indian Issue WW2 Fairburn-Sykes Fighting Commando Knife

These knives were produced in India during the WW2 and are different in manufacture to the traditional British Fairburn-Sykes fighting knives, especially with regard to the blade and scabbard.  The blade is double-edged and with a raised median ridge that runs the length of the blade.  The scabbard comprises darkened brass hilt mounts and a thick stitched leather body.

In good overall condition with commensurate service wear to the blade.

An original and excellent German WW2 Wehrmacht Army Infantry Fighting Boot Knife

This is an official German Army issue boot knife with painted black wooden grips and plain, double-edged blade.  It is stamped to the blade forte with an official acceptance mark.  It comes complete with a black painted steel scabbard with spring catch for attachment to a jackboot.

A good and original example of a US WW2 M3 Infantry Combat Fighting Knife.  A US WW2 combat fighting knife with typical thick leather, ribbed grip, plain blade and double-edged blade.  Complete with webbing, steel mounts and composite scabbard.  The M3 fighting knife or M3 trench knife was first issued in March 1943. and originally aimed at soldiers not equipped with a bayonet.  It was specially designed for use by elite forces such as airborne troops and Army Rangers who need a close combat weapon.

An unusual British Post-War Nowill Fairburn-Sykes Commando Knife

With typical ribbed grip and double-edged blade that has the British royal coat of arms etched to the blade forte.  Blade retains most of the original polished finish.  This is probably a presentation piece.  No scabbard.

An ultra rare and original Italian Model 1930 Air Force Cadet’s Dress Dagger

This is a seldom seen dress dagger for a young officer cadet in both the pre-War and wartime Italian Air Force.  It comprises an eagle-head pommel to the hilt, mother-of-pearl slab grips and a cast brass winged crossguard.  The blade is plain, nickel-plated and with a rounded point.  The scabbard has an embossed eagle motif with a ribbed and star decoration.  There are very few of these daggers in the market.

A good Indian early-mid 19th Century buckler shield.  Used to parry sword. lance and knife blades.  With finely inlaid decoration to the whole service.  Also retains the original  cloth hand grip to the reverse.  A nice display piece for the collector.

This is a French 19th Century sword bayonet for the Chassepot bayonet and dated to 1873.  With cast brass ribbed grip and yataghan blade.  It is dated to blade on the spine and with impressed maker marks to the blade forte.  Both hilt and scabbard are stamped with matching numbers.  Complete with steel scabbard.

A good example of an antique 19th Century Indonesian kris dagger with carved and stained and deeply carved ivory grip.  This appears to be an early example and is rarer than the more common 20th Century kris’ that are available in the market.

Blade is hand-forged

The blade is typically plain and hand-forged with distinctive hand forged layering.  This process of layering is distinctive to kris’ and would have added considerable extra strength to the blade.  It is a process of blade making that has been undertaken for many centuries throughout the world and I many cultures, from the Vikings through to the Japanese Samurai sword makers. No scabbard.  In good condition with some wear to the blade.  Blade length is 7 inches (13 inches overall).

This is a distinctive style of sword that was carried throughout Sri-Lanka during the 18th and 19th Century.  It has a wooden grip with finely carved monster-head pommel and brass and iron crossguard.  The blade is hand forged and slightly curved.  No scabbard.

A very unusual Italian C.1900’s Decorative Sword

Not quite sure what to make of this sword – is a very elaborate pieces with a large knights-head pommel brass hilt.  The quillons are counter-curved and the grip is bound with brass twistwire.  The slightly curved blade is extensively etched with Italian House of Savoy motifs including eagle, stands of arms and scrolling foliage.  No scabbard.

An excellent African 19th Century Yaka Congo Tribal Sword.  A good and distinctive example of a late-19th Century African Yaka Congo warrior’s tribal sword.  This is a well made example with an iron mounted hilt, brass studs and leather wrap to the grip.  The blade is double-edged with deeply grooved patterns to most of its length.

Unusual and distinctive scabbard

It comes complete with a stitched leather grip and pronounced swollen tip.  In good overall condition – some iron bars missing – end of scabbard with damage.  Blade length is 16 inches (24 inches overall).

A very fine British Napoleonic West Kent Regiment of Militia Military Powder Horn

This is a scarce and seldom seen example of a British Napoleonic powder horn for a soldier in the West Kent Militia.  It is profusively decorated with engraved detail including regimental motifs, royal crown, GR, Board of Ordnance mark, date of 1797 and the word – TENTERDEN – this is a town in West Kent.

An original British 19th Century 1857 Pattern Royal Engineers Officer’s Sword

This regulation pattern sword was specially designed to be carried by officers of the Royal Engineers and was carried for a relatively short period of the 19th Century and was replaced by the end of the century with the standard 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword.  With heavy brass pierced and scrolled bowl guard.  Wooden grip and bound with copper twistwire.  Blade etched to most of its length.  No scabbard.

Missing fishskin and with heavy wear to the blade.

A scarce British 19th Century 14th Hussars Officer’s Sword

A rarely encountered British 19th Century 14th King’s Hussars Officer’s Dress Sword.  Of levee type and probably carried for use in ceremonial and social occasions.  With a superbly etched blade featuring the owner’s initials – FIR(?) and family crest.  Also has the regimental motif and numbering of the regiment and scrolling foliage.  Numerous battle honours to both sides of the blade.  Maker marked to Pillin of London to the blade forte.  Wooden grip with bound twistwire.  Complete with scabbard.  A sword worthy of further research.

Condition of the Sword

In good overall condition – would originally have been wrapped with fishskin.  Bend to blade and scabbard near end.
