A scarce Scottish Early 19th Century Highland Officer’s Dirk

Here is a Scottish Highland Officer’s dirk from the first quarter of the 19th Century – probably dating from the Napoleonic Wars.  With thistle-shaped hilt comprising carved interlaced designs pierced with silver studs, escutcheon and crossguard.  The blade is of typical Highland dirk form with notched spine and pierced roundels.  It is maker or retailer marked at the blade forte to Mcleod, College Street, Edinburgh.  No scabbard.

Condition of the Dirk

In good overall condition – light wear to the blade – small scratch to crossguard.

Specifications of the Dirk

Blade length is 11.5 inches (15.5 inches overall).
