Rare Swedish Model 1842/47 Cavalry Trooper’s Sword. This is a highly unusual sword and comprises a distinctive, long, falchion-type blade that is seen on other Swedish swords of the period but not commonly adopted by any other countries at that time – was a peculiarly Swedish blade style. With brass, bowl guard to the hilt and ribbed leather grip. I did have another identical example which is now sold but these are the only swords that I have seen in many years of selling – I would guess that this is an extremely rare sword and seldom seen in the market.
Sword is regimentally marked on the hilt
Regimentally marked on the hilt and maker marked to Eskilstuna, one of the principal sword manufacturing towns in Sweden during the 19th Century. No scabbard. Have two of these currently for sale. In good condition with all original leather to the grip – blade with some light pitting to one side. Blade length is 33.5 inches (39 inches overall).
