A super rare WW1 Polish Legion Adrian helmet
This helmet was worn by volunteers in the Polish Free Army who volunteered to fight on the side of the allies on the Western Front. They were known by various names – The Haller Army, the Blue Army and also the Polish Legion in France. This Blue Army (they wore horizon blue French uniforms) was the Polish contribution to the forces on the western front in WWI. They initially trained and fought under French command and and by the end of WW1 they were officially recognized as the independent Polish Army. Their leader was General Jozef Haller who was the former leader of the 2nd Polish Legion under the Austrians-Hungarians. .
Condition of the helmet
This helmet displays the original blue paint finish – now with rusting in places. Retains its original Polish crowned eagle badge. It comes with a brown leather liner which is now detached – have not attempted to re-attach it and cannot guarantee that it is the original one so buyer will have to make their own mind up and it is sold as is. The chinstrap certainly looks to be original though. This is a very rare helmet and rarely seen in the market.
